ઘેલા સોમનાથ એ જસદણ તાલુકાના ઘેલો નદીના કાંઠે આવેલ છે. જ્યાં સોમનાથથી આવેલ શિવલિંગ બન્યું ઘેલા સોમનાથ અને મહાદેવ સોમનાથ બિરાજમાન થયા ઘેલા સોમનાથના નામે. અને આજે આં સ્થળ બન્યું વિશ્વ વિખ્યાત આ સ્થળ એકદમ રમણીય, મનની શાંતિ આપનારું તેમજ અવિસ્મરણીય તેમજ ઐતિહાસીક સ્થળ છે. ગુજરાતની ભૂમિ સોમનાથ મહાદેવના મંદિર પર મહમદ ગજનીએ મંદિરોનો નાશ કરવા વારંવાર ચડાઈ કરી હતી પરંતુ તે ચડાઈમાં નિષ્ફળ રહ્યો હતો, એક સમયની વાત છે જુનાગઢના રાજાની કુવરી મીનળદેવી કે જે શિવની ખુબ ભક્તિ કરતા હતા અને તેમને મુસ્લિમ રાજાઓથી બચાવવા ભગવાન શિવના શિવલીંગની સ્થાપના નીચે ભૂગર્ભમાં કરેલ હતી અને ત્યાં સેવા પૂજા અને ભક્તિભાવ પૂર્વક ભક્તિ કરતા હતા.

થોડા સમય બાદ વર્ષ 1457 ની આસપાસ સોમનાથ પર ફરી એક મુસ્લિમ રાજા મહમદ જાફરે ચડાઈ કરી આ મુસ્લિમ રાજાને ખબર પડી કે ભૂગર્ભમાં શિવલિંગની સ્થાપના કરાઈ છે માટે ત્યાં ચડાઈ કરી, પરંતુ  મીનળદેવીને આં સઘળી હકીકત તેમની બહેનપણી હુરલ દ્વારા જાણવા મળતા તેઓ આ લિંગ પાલખીમાં લઇ ઘેલા વાણીયા તેમજ વેજલ ભટ્ટ સાથે સ્થળ છોડી નીકળેલ હતા અને સોમનાથથી આશરે 250 કી.મી. દુર જસદણના નદીના કિનારે આવી પહોચ્યા હતા, આ સ્થળ પર વિદ્વાન બ્રાહ્મણ વેજલભટ્ટ દ્વારા આં શિવલિંગની સ્થાપના કરવામાં આવી હતી, પરંતુ મુસ્લિમ રાજાએ પોતાનું સૈન્યને પાછળ શોધમાં લગાડેલું હતું તે સૈન્ય આં નદી પાસે આવી પહોચતા અને છેલ્લે જસદણ નદીના કિનારે ભીષણ યુદ્ધ થયું તેમાં ઘેલા નામના વાણીયાની સાથે હજારો બ્રાહ્મણો, ક્ષત્રિયો તેમજ ગામના લોકોએ આં યુધ્ધ લડવામાં મદદ કરી હતી. આમ સતત સાત દિવસ સુધી આં જગ્યા પર યુધ્ધ ચાલ્યું અને આં યુદ્ધમાં ઘેલા નામનો વાણીયો શહીદ થઇ ગયો અને મીનળદેવીએ પણ અહી ડુંગર પર ઘેલા સોમનાથના સાનિધ્યમાં ડુંગર ઉપર સમાધી લીધી હતી, આ મીનળદેવી માતાનું મંદિર આ ડુંગર ઉપર છે.

આ શિવલિંગ સોમનાથથી ઘેલા વાણીયા સાથે આવેલ અને યુધ્ધમાં ઘેલો વાણીયો શહીદ થયો માટે નદીનું નામ ઘેલો નદી તેમજ આં શિવલિંગનું નામ ઘેલા સોમનાથ પાડવામાં આવેલ આ સ્થળ પાસે ત્યાં જ સામે ડુંગર ઉપર માતા મીનળદેવીનું પણ મંદિર છે. આ ઘેલા સોમનાથ મંદિરનું શિવલિંગ એકદમ વિશાળ છે કે જેના દર્શન માત્રથી સહસ્ત્ર પાપોનો નાશ થાય છે, દરેક મનોકામના સિધ્ધ થાય છે. આ મંદિરની એક માન્યતા એવી પણ છે કે જ્યાં આરતી સવારે તેમજ સાંજે થાય છે. પરંતુ પહેલા મીનળદેવીનો દીવો કરવામાં આવે છે, ત્યારબાદ ઘેલા સોમનાથ દાદાની આરતી થાય છે. અહી મંદિર માં દાદાનો એક અખંડ દીવાની જ્યોત વર્ષોથી પ્રગટે છે. મંદિરના ગર્ભગૃહની બહાર ગજાનન ગણપતિ બીરાજમાન છે સાથે સાથે કેશરીનંદન હનુમાનજી પણ બિરાજમાન છે. ઘેલા સોમનાથ દાદાની વિશાળ ધજા આ મંદિરના શિવાલય પર લહેરાય છે, મંદિર નો પ્રવેશદ્વાર પણ ખુબ વિશાળ છે.

જસદણ તાલુકાના ડુંગરાળ પ્રદેશના જંગલ વિસ્તારમાં હાલ આ ઘેલા સોમનાથ દાદાના સાનિધ્યમાં રોજ સવાર અને સાંજ નિત્ય આરતી થાય છે, ભક્તો દાદાને ભાવ પૂર્વક દાદાને જળ, પાણી તેમજ દૂધ ચડાવી, બીલીપત્ર ચડાવે છે, પવિત્ર શ્રાવણ માસ તેમજ શિવરાત્રી દરમ્યાન હજારો લોકો ની સંખ્યામાં અહી માનવ મહેરામણ દાદાના દર્શનનો તેમજ બ્રાહ્મણો સાથે મહાપ્રસાદની ચોર્યાસીનો અનેરો લાભ લે છે સાથે સાથે અહી મેળો પણ ભરાય છે અને ખુબ જ સરસ રીતે ઘેલા સોમનાથ દાદાના આશીર્વાદ પ્રાપ્ત કરે છે. આ મંદિર જવા માટે જસદણથી 18 કી.મી દુર આં મંદિર આવેલ છે. હાલ આ મંદિરનો તમામ વહીવટ જીલ્લા કલેકટર હસ્તક છે, ત્યાં રહેવા માટે એ.સી. રૂમ સહીત જમવાની અનેક સુવિધાઓથી સજ્જ છે.

આ મંદિરમાં રહેલ શિવલીંગ તથા ડુંગર પર બિરાજમાન માતા મીનળદેવ એક બીજાની સામે છે. એ જોતા એવુ લાગે કે માતા મીનળદેવ ડુંગર પરથી શિવલીંગની રક્ષા કરે છે. આ મંદિરનો મેઇન દરવાજો પહેલા મંદિરની ડાબી બાજુએ હતો. ડુંગર પર રહેલ માતા મીનળદેવનું મંદિર તથા શિવલીંગ ની વચ્ચે એક નાનો દરવાજો હતો. પરંતુ જ્યારે આ દરવાજો બંધ કરી ત્યાં દિવાલ બનાવવામાં આવી તો સવાર થતા આ દિવાલ પડી ગયેલ જોવા મળેલ આવુ ઘણી બધી વાર બનેલ. તે જોતા એવુ લાગ્યુ કે માતા મીનળદેવ ડુંગર પરથી શિવલીંગની રક્ષા કરે છે. અને ત્યારબાદ મંદિરનો મુખ્ય દરવાજો શિવલીંગ તથા માતા મીનળદેવના મંદરની વચ્ચે બનાવવામાં આવ્યો. આમ માતા મીનળદેવ આજ પણ આ મંદિરમાં રહેલ શિવલીંગની રક્ષા કરે છે.

Muhammad Ghajini repeatedly attacked the temple of Somnath Mahadev, the land of Gujarat, to destroy the temples. But he failed in the climb. It is a matter of time. Meenal Devi, the virgin of the king of Junagadh, who was very devoted to Shiva. And the Shivling of Lord Shiva was erected underground to save them from the Muslim kings. And there they were doing service, worship and devotion.

Shortly afterwards, around the year 1457, Somnath was again invaded by a Muslim king, Muhammad Jafar. This Muslim king, realizing that a Shivling had been established underground, invaded there. But Meenal Devi got to know all these facts through her sister Hural. They had left the place with Ghela Vaniya as well as Vejal Bhatt in this Ling Palkhi and about 250 km from Somnath They had reached the bank of the river Jasdan in the distance. This Shivling was established at this place by the learned Brahmin Vejalbhatt. But the army that the Muslim king had set off in search of his army reached the river and finally a fierce battle took place on the banks of the Jasdan river. Thousands of Brahmins, Kshatriyas as well as the people of the village helped in fighting this war. The battle lasted for seven days. And in this war a man named Ghela was martyred. And Meenal Devi also took Samadhi on the hill in the vicinity of Ghela Somnath on the hill here, the temple of Meenal Devi Mata is on this hill.

This Shivling came from Somnath with Ghela Vaniya and Ghelo Vaniya was martyred in the battle. That is why the name of the river is Ghelo river and the name of this Shivling is Ghela Somnath. There is also a temple of Mata Meenal Devi on the hill opposite to this place. The Shivling of this crazy Somnath temple is quite huge. The mere sight of which destroys a thousand sins. Every psyche is accomplished. There is also a belief in this temple where Aarti takes place in the morning as well as in the evening. But first the lamp of Meenal Devi is made. Then Ghela Somnath Dada’s Aarti is performed. Here in the temple, an unbroken lamp of Dada has been burning for years. Gajanan Ganapati is seated outside the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. Kesharinandan Hanumanji is also present. The huge flag of Ghela Somnath Dada is flying on the Shivalaya of this temple. The entrance to the temple is also very wide.

In the forest area of ​​the hilly region of Jasdan taluka, in the company of this mad Somnath Dada, daily Aarti is performed every morning and evening. Devotees offer water, water and milk to Dada and pay the bills. During the holy Shravan Mass as well as during Shivratri, thousands of people here take advantage of the Darshan of Manav Mehraman Dada as well as the eighty-fourth of Mahaprasad with Brahmins. At the same time, fairs are also held here. And very nicely surrounded Somnath receives Dada’s blessings. This temple is located 18 km away from Jasdan. At present all the administration of this temple is in the hands of the District Collector. A.C. to live there. Equipped with a number of dining facilities, including rooms.

The Shivling in this temple and the mother Meenaldev sitting on the hill are opposite to each other. Seeing this, it seems that mother Meenaldev protects the Shivling from the hill. The main gate of this temple was on the left side of the first temple. There was a small gate between the temple of Mother Meenaldev on the hill and the Shivling. But when this door was closed and a wall was built there, this wall was found to have collapsed many times in the morning. Seeing that, it seemed that mother Meenaldev was protecting Shivling from the hill. And then the main gate of the temple was built between the Shivling and the temple of Mata Minaldev. Thus Mother Meenaldev still protects the Shivling in this temple.
